You can set the time interval between e-mail notifications in WebCam Monitor from the E-mail Notification Settings. To set the time interval between e-mails, go to the Quick Access panel. Click Configure button for the E-mail notification action. Look for the option 'During continuous motion, time between e-mails'. Choose a higher value for the time interval from the dropdown and click OK to save the settings. [image: WCMpost6099.jpg] Now whenever there is a continuous motion, WebCam Monitor will wait for the selected time interval and then an e-mail will be sent. This will help you to limit the number of e-mails received.

WebCam Monitor will automatically try to upload failed files after a network connection gets restored. If a network failure occurs, then upload will stop and all files will be marked as failed. As soon as the network connection is established, the file transfer will start automatically. All the files will be transferred to the FTP account after the connection is re-established.

The default date format in WebCam Monitor is MMM-DD-YYYY. You can change the date format from the ‘Edit Webcam’ settings. To change the date format, click File >> Edit WebCam. On the **Labels **tab, click the Configure button for Date and Time stamp label. Then select the required date format from the ‘Date and Time Format’ dropdown list. Click Ok to save the settings. [image: WCMpost6068.jpg] Now the selected date format will appear on the webcam preview.

You can put a text label on the camera preview in WebCam Monitor. The text label can be the camera location or the name of the camera. It will be always visible on the camera preview and also shown in the recorded video. To add a text label, click File >> Edit Webcam. Go to the Labels tab, select the Text Caption checkbox. Enter the text label to add and click Ok. [image: WCMpost6047.jpg] After adding labels, click on the **Record **button on the toolbar to start video recording. Note that the text label appears in the recorded video.

You can use the Mask area feature to prevent false motion detection alarms in WebCam Monitor. To add a mask, right click on Camera preview and select the Edit Camera option. Go to the Mask Area tab, select the Enable masking check box. Add the mask on the preview area covering the street and click Ok. You can change the shape of the mask area by clicking the selection circle on the border and dragging it to any region. The mask will be visible on the camera preview, but it will not be recorded. [image: mousehoveranddrag.png] If you don’t want to keep the mask on the camera preview, then uncheck the Show Mask area on camera preview option. Motion will not be detected in this region even though the mask is not visible on the preview. In this way, the mask area can prevent false alarms caused by vehicles moving on the street.

You can adjust the broadcast video quality from the Edit camera settings in WebCam Monitor. To adjust the quality, right click on the camera preview and select the Edit Camera option. Go to the Broadcast tab and select the Broadcast profile from the drop down list. You can select the ‘Very high or Best quality video’ option. Click the OK button and save the settings. I also suggest increasing the broadcast video size. [image: ConfigureBroadcasting.png] Please note that the selection of Broadcast profile is also dependent on your network’s bandwidth. You can use a secondary microphone to capture audio in WebCam Monitor. Connect the microphone and USB camera to your computer and launch WebCam Monitor. Click on the Add Webcam option on the toolbar. The attached webcam will appear in the Camera Model dropdown list. You will also see the camera preview. Your microphone will be listed in the audio device drop-down list. Select it and click on the play button to hear the audio from the microphone. If everything is fine then click OK to save the settings. [image: WCMpost5985.jpg] Once you have configured the settings, right click on the camera preview and start the recording. When you will play the recorded video you will see that the audio from microphone has been recorded.

The red border helps to easily distinguish the camera on which motion is detected. This is useful when you are displaying multiple camera previews on the screen. You can disable the red border around the camera window in WebCam Monitor. To disable the border, click on the Configure button under the Start Actions section on the Quick Access panel. On the Motion Settings dialog, uncheck the Highlight camera preview border in red color option and save the changes. Then click on the Start Monitoring button on Quick Access panel. [image: WCMpost5961.jpg] Give it a test. Whenever motion is detected, the actions will be performed, and the camera border will no longer be highlighted.

WebCam Monitor allows you to detach the camera preview window and place it anywhere on the screen. Once you add all your webcams into WebCam Monitor, right click on the camera preview and select the Detach Camera option from the context menu. Resize the detached window and place it at required location on the PC screen. To make the detached window always visible, right click on the camera preview and choose the Always on top option. Repeat these steps for the second webcam. When you detach a preview, the detached window will come to the front and the status message is shown on the camera window within the application. [image: detached_preview.png] Now, you can watch both webcam previews simultaneously.

You can use the lock application feature in WebCam Monitor to prevent anyone from making unwanted changes to the application or it's settings. To configure the application lock option, click on the Settings icon on the toolbar and go to the Security tab. Select the Lock application with password option under the ‘Secure Access’ section. Set the password and click OK to save the changes. [image: WCMpost5915.jpg] As soon as you click the Ok button on the settings dialog, the application settings will be locked. Only a user with the correct password can access the application. In this way, no one can change the application function without the password.

WebCam Monitor can capture the photos from your webcam and upload it to your website via FTP at 30 minute intervals. To perform this operation, connect your webcam to PC and click on the Add Webcam icon from the tool bar. On the Actions tab, select the regular interval option and set it for 30 minutes. Configure Take Photo and Upload Media File actions. While configuring the upload action, you need to create an FTP profile with server FTP address and authentication details. Right click on the camera preview and start monitoring. Photos will be captured and uploaded to your web server every 30 minutes.

Webcam Monitor uses color codes to differentiate between schedules based on their run status. If you add new schedules, they are listed in black. The black color shows that the schedule is Active but not running currently. When you click on the Disable button on the Configure Schedule dialog, then the selected schedule will be changed to a Grey color. The color Orange indicates that the schedule has expired and will not run again. When the schedule is running, then it will be highlighted in Green. [image: Schedular.png] The colors make it easy to differentiate between waiting, running, disabled, and expired schedules.

The wording on the WebCam Monitor camera preview is a Text Label. You can make the Text Label bold and add a background color to make it more visible on the screen. To adjust the text label, right click on the camera preview and select Edit camera option. On the labels tab, double click on the already added text label. [image: WCMpost5870.jpg] Change the font color, size, style, background color using the formatting toolbar options. Adjust the transparency level for the text label. Click Ok to save the changes. Now the text label will be easily noticeable on camera preview.

WebCam Monitor can be launched in hidden mode on Windows startup. To configure this setting, go to File >> Settings. On the General settings tab, select the Launch WebCam Monitor in Hide Mode when Windows starts option. Click Ok to save the settings. [image: WCMpost5853.jpg] WebCam Monitor will be launched in hidden mode whenever you start the PC. Actions configured for your webcam will be performed in the background. You can access the application using the hotkey combination.

You can change the port number used in WebCam Monitor for broadcasting the video from the broadcast settings on the Edit camera dialog. WebCam Monitor automatically adds a default port number value for each camera to start broadcasting. To change the broadcast port, right click on the camera preview and select Edit Camera option. On the Broadcast tab, enter the port number value in the Broadcast Port field. Click Ok to save the changes. Note that two cameras cannot have the same broadcast port. WebCam Monitor will notify you if you have selected a port that is being used. [image: WCMpost5844.jpg] The default port number starts from 1030, 1031, and so on. If the port conflict occurs when you start the broadcasting action, then it will be resolved automatically by changing the broadcast port value to an available port number.

WebCam Monitor allows you to add a label in the form of text, date and time or an image. If you are adding an image label for your watermark logo and still want motion to be detected behind the label, then you can adjust the transparency level. Motion will be detected if transparency level is greater than 60%. To adjust the image transparency, right click on the camera preview and select the Edit Camera option. On the labels tab, double click on the already added image label. Select the Image Transparency check box and adjust the transparency level by dragging the slider. [image: AddWatermarkImage.png] You should keep a higher image transparency value, so that motion will be detected behind the label. Note: Below 60% transparency, motion will not be detected behind the image label.

In WebCam Monitor, you can change the camera display name and use any general name for the camera. You can also add a text label on the camera preview. To change the camera name, right click on the camera preview and select the Edit camera option. You can change the Display name. Enter a name like ‘Backyard cam’, ‘Backdoor camera’. [image: WCMpost5822.jpg] Now, go to the Labels tab and click on the Add Text button. Enter the name to be displayed on the camera preview. Click Ok to save the settings. The text label will be always displayed on the camera preview. This will help you easily identify the camera.

You can automatically start broadcasting a live video stream over the network with WebCam Monitor. There are 2 ways to start broadcasting on application launch. The first is to add a schedule to start the broadcasting action on application launch. Another way is to configure WebCam Monitor to start previously running actions on launch. To add a schedule, click on the Scheduler icon from the tool bar. Select the broadcasting action and On the Application Launch Schedule type. Click Ok to save the scheduler settings. [image: WCMpost5805.jpg] The second method is to configure the settings to restart previously running actions. To do this, click the Settings icon on the toolbar. On the ‘General’ settings tab, select Restart previously running actions on application launch. Click Ok to save your settings. Right click on the camera preview and start the broadcasting action. Close the application. The next time you launch the application, then broadcasting action will start automatically. [image: General_Settings.jpg]

You can add a schedule to perform the monitoring in WebCam Monitor. If you set the morning start time, you can then run the schedule for the daytime hours until the office is closed. To create a schedule, click on the Scheduler icon on the tool bar. Select your webcam, and set the schedule type as Daily. By default, the monitoring actions option is selected. Enter the start date, and make the time 6:30. In the Run For field, enter the value of 16 hours, so that the schedule will run till 22:30. Save the scheduler settings. [image: WCMpost5792.jpg] The schedule will automatically start every day at 6:30 AM in the morning and will begin monitoring. The monitoring will be stopped at 10:30 PM.

In WebCam Monitor you have some filename renaming options when saving your photo(s) to the FTP server. To configure these settings, click on the Configure button for the Upload Media Files action from the Quick access panel. Go to the ‘Upload options’ section and select the Upload photos to my website option from the drop down list. Next, select Rename photo files check box and choose the ‘Append sequence number from 1 to 99’ option. Click Ok to save the settings. [image: WCMpost5782.jpg] Whenever you perform a FTP upload, the images will be uploaded to the FTP server with a sequence number appended to the filename. This way you can have a collection of N most recent images. Note: Once the counter reaches the selected value, it will be reset to 1 and starts from the beginning.
