In My Screen Recorder Pro, you can use the Split feature to divide a recording into one hour segments and give them whatever names you choose. However, we do like your idea, and we will include the ability to segment recordings on a time basis in a future version of My Screen Recorder Pro.

You can view My Screen Recorder and My Screen Recorder Pro recordings on a Mac that has the Windows Media Components for Macintosh installed. You can also convert any recording into QuickTime format using Auto Movie Creator or Digital Media Converter Pro. Any Mac can play QuickTime files. You may find an article we published on this subject helpful: https://www.deskshare.com/resources/articles/msrpro_distributingscreenrecordings.aspx You can download Auto Movie Creator here: https://www.deskshare.com/download_details.aspx?ID=25 You can download Digital Media Converter Pro here: https://www.deskshare.com/download_details.aspx?ID=30

The standard for AVI files limits their size to 2 gigabytes. For this reason, both My Screen Recorder and My Screen Recorder Pro will automatically start a new file when the current recording reaches a length of 1.9 gb. There is no limit on the size of WMV files, and in My Screen Recorder Pro you can join multiple 1.9 gb AVI files into a single WMV file of any length.

It is possible that the required audio devices are disabled in Windows. If you are using Windows Vista, please try these steps to activate the necessary device to enable recording from speakers: Right-click on the speaker icon in the tray Select "Recording Devices" from the menu A window opens. Switch to the "Recording" tab. Right-click in an empty area and select "Show disabled devices". Different manufacturers use different terminology for the proper recording device. It may be called "Wave Out" or "What You Hear". Now that this device is enabled, you should be able to record from speakers. Note that you may have to download and install the latest driver from the maker of your sound card or sound chip before this works, and it currently does not work for all sound hardware. If you are using Windows XP, please open the Windows Control Panel. If necessary, switch the Classic View. Now open the Sounds and Audio Devices application. In the Sounds and Audio Devices window, click the Advanced button under Device Volume. Open the Options menu, and choose Properties. In the Properties window that opens, select Recording. (You may have to change Mixer Device first.) Make sure that the Wave Out Mix line in the list of volume controls is checked. Click OK. The Recording Control window opens. In this window, make sure that the Wave out Mix volume is higher than zero, and check the Select checkbox under it. Close the Recording Control window, click OK on the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window, and close the Control panel. You should now be able to select Wave Out Mix as your audio device. If Wave Out Mix doesn't appear in the list of devices, you may need to upgrade your audio drivers.

Be sure that you have not accidentally turned on Time Lapse Recording. If Time Lapse Recording is not turned on, please turn off hardware acceleration and try recording again.

My Screen Recorder does not have the Effects tab in the Options window. Please download My Screen Recorder Pro.

We have not tested with Adobe Encoder. I would recommend trying Digital Media Converter Pro to convert the AVI files to FLV format. We have tested this, and it works perfectly. You can download a trial version of Digital Media Converter Pro here.

On Windows Vista systems, the device may be called "What You Hear" instead of "Wave Out Mix".

Hello Dario, I would suggest upgrading to the latest version of My Screen Recorder, which you can download here. Because the pauses happen only when you are trying to list or save files, it sounds as if it may be related to your hard disk. I would also suggest that you error-check the drive thoroughly. In Windows XP or Vista, right-click on the drive's icon in the Windows Explorer, and select Properties. Switch to the Tools tab and select Check Now.

From your description, it sounds as if you should disable hardware acceleration, as explained in this forum posting about recording video from the Web. Alternatively, Digital Media Converter Pro will directly download and convert video from many media websites that contain video.

I would suggest that you upgrade your Windows DirectX to DirectX 9.0c. https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en If you already have the latest DirectX, I highly recommend you reinstall. After upgrading, reboot your PC.

Please be sure you are using the PCM (uncompressed) audio compression format. Also, if you are recording at a high resolution such as 1280x1024 pixels, please try decreasing it to 1024x768 or less during recording.

When you start My Screen Recorder or My Screen Recorder Pro, a "Quick Start" window appears, which gives you one-click access to the most frequently used options. If you prefer, you can turn off the Quick Start. Simply check the "Show at startup" checkbox at the bottom of the window and click OK. From then on, the Quick Start will not appear. To bring back the Quick Start window, click the Help menu and select "Quick Start ..." Recheck the "Show at startup" box and click OK. If you'd like to keep the Quick Start window but do not want to start recording at program start, you can simply press Cancel instead of OK.

To record audio from Windows Media Player, click the Tune Audio button on the My Screen Recorder tool bar. Click Next, Next again, and on the "Select Audio Recording Device" screen select Record from speakers. Click Next, choose to select the line for speaker recording, and choose "Wave Out Mix". Click Next and then Finish. Now, My Screen Recorder will record the audio played by Windows Media Player.

Thank you very much for the tips, and the kind words. One thing to be aware of: older computers (running Windows 2000 or earlier) may not be able to play back recordings made with MS MPEG 4 V2.
