The black screen occurs due to hardware acceleration setting on your PC. Here are a few things you can try: Windows Media Player has a feature to disable video acceleration. If you are recording only video from the player then you can turn off video acceleration here. Try looking for a similar setting on Realplayer. My Screen Recorder can automatically disable your computer's hardware acceleration just before it starts recording. You can use this option to record from Realplayer. Finally, you can turn off your system's hardware acceleration from the Window's Control Panel. To know more about turning off hardware acceleration, please refer My Screen Recorder's help file. To read the help file online, visit: https://www.deskshare.com/help/msr/Index.aspx Also, make sure that you are using the latest version of My Screen Recorder. On some PCs you will not be able to disable hardware acceleration automatically. In this case, you will have to disable the setting manually. You will find more information on disabling hardware acceleration manually in the following article: https://www.deskshare.com/resources/articles/dmc_turnoffhardwareacceleration.aspx

There are two solutions that might help you: Solution 1: Design another set of HTML pages to embed the media player. You will find a lot of help to do online. Link your buttons to these HTML pages instead of the videos directly. Solution 2: If you want to close the media player automatically after playing the video then use My Screen Recorder Pro instead. The professional version has the ability to generate executables from screen-recorded videos. You can set the executable's property to close the video automatically after playing. The screen recording process involves capturing large images, encoding them using the selected compressor and writing them to a file. If you are also recording audio, then the process also incurs the overhead of capturing and writing an audio file. This consumes a lot of CPU resources. Capturing at a resolution as high as 1900 x 1200 pixels, the CPU requirement is very high. Moreover, screen recording is a software-only solution. Thus, graphic hardware has little effect towards speeding up the process. To increase the performance, you can: Close all other applications to maximize free memory. Turn off audio recording, if not necessary. Lower the resolution and/or the color-depth of your computer.

Software that display high-motion graphics take up a lot of CPU resources and may result in blocky screen recordings. A high-end computer is required to handle both the graphics and recordings together. You can smoothen the recording significantly by: Increasing the frame rate to 75 or higher (as high as possible) so every frame in the graphic is correctly recorded. Decreasing the area of the screen to be recorded. If the software displays graphics in a window then use Region recording to record only that portion of the software.

With My Screen Recorder, you can create screen recordings in AVI only. The default compressor, "Microsoft Video 1", produces good quality screen recordings with reasonable file size. If you want to change the Video compressor: 1.On the Tools menu, click Settings. 2.Click on the Video tab and then select the Compressor you want You can also select an audio compressor like "MPEG Layer-3" to compress audio. This should reduce the file size. Even though a different compressor may result in reduced file size, it is not small enough for e-mailing or posting it on your website. If you intend to use My Screen Recorder for this purpose, we recommend you to use My Screen Recorder Pro instead. My Screen Recorder Pro also gives you the ability to convert your AVI files to very small WMV files. With WMV, all Windows users can view your screen recordings. WMV is also ideally suited for e-mailing and posting on websites. To download the trial version, visit the URL: https://www.deskshare.com/msrpro.aspx

The maximum file size that the AVI file format allows is about 2GB. My Screen Recorder Pro employs segmentation to work around this limitation. Whenever the recording file size in AVI exceeds ~1.9 GB, a new file (segment) is automatically created. This segment will again have a maximum size of ~1.9 GB, and if the recording continues beyond the segment size, further segmentation is carried out. You can also specify the maximum recording file size. If the recording exceeds the size you specify, segmentation will be carried out to allow the recording to proceed uninterrupted.

My Screen Recorder creates and maintains data in the folder where it is installed. For a Windows Standard User, grant the "Write" and "Modify" permissions only to the folder where My Screen Recorder is installed. To change the folder permissions: Right click on the folder where My Screen Recorder is installed. Click on Properties then click on the Security tab. You will find the "Write" and "Modify" rights under `Permissions for Administrator'. Please allow these rights However, if the user does not have "Write" and "Modify" rights in the folder where My Screen Recorder is installed then a Folder by the name of My Recordings is created in the My Documents of the current user and the recorded files are always stored in this folder.

When viewed in My Screen Recorder, the built-in player plays back the video in its original resolution. By default, the Windows Media player displays the screen recording in a very small window. You will need to play it in full screen mode. The short cut key to view it in full screen is ALT + ENTER. My Screen Recorder Pro allows you to generate an executable, which is very useful for distribution. The executable has a built in player, which maintains your original resolution across different PCs.

If multiple applications try to use the same audio device then you may get this message. Turn off or close all applications that use the audio device at the same time. Some applications may also be running in the background, preventing you from accessing the audio device.

A typical computer display resolution is 1024x768 pixels. While a standard DVD NTSC has 720x480 pixel resolution. Therefore, when a 1024x768 pixels screen recording is converted to DVD format, the video is resized to 720x480 pixels causing loss in font quality. The best solution here is to record in 720x480 pixels using My Screen Recorder's region capture capability. Another solution is to record in full desktop mode at a resolution of 1024x768 pixels and then use the conversion wizard available in My Screen Recorder Pro. You can use the conversion wizard to adjust the video resolution to 720 x 480 pixels. Since a change in aspect ratio is involved when you convert your screen recording, you must also change the Resize Type to preserve the aspect ratio. In the Output Video Properties screen of the Conversion Wizard, click Resize Type and select the option Preserve aspect ratio.

We haven't tried an 8-hour recording in My Screen Recorder Pro but a 2-hour recording takes close to 3GB with default settings. However, if you want to record for 8 hours, here are some ideas to reduce the total recording size. Reduce the recording time to around 1 frame per minute (If your captured screen is going to have low levels of activity). To reduce the frame rate: a) On the Tools menu, click Settings. b) Select the AVI Video tab. c) Move the slider under Frame rate to your new frame rate. Turn off audio recording (record only video) if you do not need it. To turn off the audio: a) On the Tools menu, click Settings. b) Select the General tab if not already selected. c) Clear the option "Record audio". If Audio is turned off then you can also choose a different video compressor that offers higher compression ratios. These three steps can reduce the recording file size by more than half.

Some games use Microsoft(R) DirectX(R), which does not allows screen recording. Turning off the Hardware Acceleration is a possible workaround. My Screen Recorder can also disable Hardware Acceleration while recording is in progress automatically. After the recording is stopped the hardware acceleration is restored to its previous value. To disable hardware acceleration, on the Tools menu click Settings. Select the General tab. Check the "Disable Hardware Acceleration during recording" option. Note: A black screen might appear when starting and stopping the recording if the "Disable Hardware Acceleration during recording.

Windows Media Player 8 (and many other players) shrinks the video to fit it completely in the player. You can try to view the video in full screen by pressing Alt + Enter. If the size of the video is more than your current display resolution then Windows Media Player will again shrink the video. The best option is therefore to use My Screen Recorder itself for playing videos. My Screen Recorder has been specifically designed for viewing recorded videos in actual size. Viewing options like Full Screen, Fit to Window and different view percentages, help you to correctly view screen recorded videos. My Screen Recorder Pro allows you to generate an executable, which is very useful for distribution. The executable has a built in player, which maintains your original resolution across different PCs.
