      I am an idiot, so if I can get these results you can too!

      I know the "pros" out there may snicker at this, but I don't know a thing about video and this works flawlessly for me to at least 640x480 resolution capturing video and sound - the resulting vid has fantastic picture quality and smooth as heck replay, with really GREAT file sizes!

      Ingredients:

      1. MSR, preferably the Pro version;

      2. The most recent version of MS Mpeg4 V2 - I haven't tried others, and I guess they should work, but my version is from undercut.org. MSR recognizes it with no problem.

      Settings:

      Audio: PCM 22.05 khz mono 16 bit

      Video: MPEG4 V2

      MSR settings:

      Vid qual = 100
      Frames = 30
      Key frames = 8

      Config settings for codec:

      8 in key frames
      100 in smooth/crisp
      6000 in data rate

      I just hope I can help others like me who need a literally fool-proof setup to get high quality recording with Deskshare's wonderful product.

      I am happy as can be with MSR!!! Thank YOU Deskshare.

        Thank you very much for the tips, and the kind words.

        One thing to be aware of: older computers (running Windows 2000 or earlier) may not be able to play back recordings made with MS MPEG 4 V2.
