I am not sure why Adobe Premiere does not read it correctly, since it is playing fine in Windows Media Player. You can try converting the file into AVI (not DV AVI). The resulting file should work.

The simplest way to tell whether a DVR-MS file is protected is to locate the file in the Windows Media Center Video Library. Right-click on the recording and choose Program info. If any part of the recording is protected, the words "Restricted Content" will appear in the window. Note that it is possible to protect only part of a DVR-MS recording. If you check a partly-protected file's Properties in the Windows Explorer, it may say "Protected: No" on the Details tab. Use the Media Center when checking DVR-MS files for protection.

The easiest way to transfer video from your DV camera to a computer is to use a FireWire (IEEE 1394) cable and the software that came with your camera. If your computer does not have a FireWire port, an expansion card is very inexpensive. Digital Media Converter Pro can convert DV video from PAL to NTSC formats, or convert your video into MPEG 2 video in NTSC DVD format.

It is possible that this is caused by a bad frame in your VOB file that Digital Media Converter cannot read past. You can try using Digital Media Converter Pro. It can rip video directly from a DVD, without your needing to convert individual VOB files.

The temporary working folder must have at least 5 gigabytes of free space available for Digital Media Converter to perform conversions. You should either free at least that much space, or change the temporary working folder to a different disk drive that has 5 gb available.

There was a problem with the "Check for Upgrade" function in version 2.78. This problem is fixed in version 2.79. To upgrade to version 2.79, you will need to download the latest version. The new version will automatically recognize your existing serial number. You will not need to re-enter your registration information.

It is worth mentioning that Digital Media Converter Pro is not as vulnerable to interference from other software, because it does not use Windows components to handle encoding or decoding. This also means that there is no need to download and install separate components like the GPL MPEG 2 decoder and the PSP Toolkit for specific conversions. All required elements are part of the program download.

It sounds as if you do not have the video codec for the AVI files you are converting. When you play the files in the Windows Media Player, does the picture display normally? If you don't see the picture, you need to locate and download the correct codec. Media Player should automatically locate the codec and prompt you to download it. Another option is to download Digital Media Converter Pro. It should convert the AVI file without requiring you to install the video codec.

I would suggest converting one of your VOB files to a different format, such as Windows Media Video (WMV). If the problem does recur in the WMV, we would know that the problem is happening during the decoding of the VOB file. In that case, the first thing to try is to reinstall the MPEG 2 decoder. You may also need to disable other MPEG decoders. You can do this by opening the Tools menu and choosing Settings, the switching to the Compatibility tab. Uncheck all MPEG decoders. The GPL MPEG Decoder does not appear in this list. This is normal. The GPL decoder can't be disabled. If the problem does not occur in the WMV file, then we know the error is happening during the encoding of the DV AVI file. If the WMV file is correct, you may be able to fix the DV AVI issue by upgrading DirectX on your computer. You can download the latest version of DirectX free of charge from Microsoft here: https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en Unless you have a specific reason to use DV AVI, you may want to try using another high-quality video format such as MJPEG-encoded AVI, which gives you more control over the video resolution and audio quality.

Yes, you can convert VOB files to other formats, as explained in this post. As explained there, we recommend Windows Media Video when small file sizes are important. It's also an excellent choice for Internet downloads or streaming video. Looping is a function of the video player, rather than the video file itself. In some cases, you can control it by the HTML code you use on your web page, or a setting of a stand-alone video player.

Yes, Digital Media Converter can convert VOB files into other file formats. First, copy the VOB files to your hard disk, then add the copies to the conversion list and select a new file format. If you are interested in smaller files that will play in the Windows Media Player, we recommend Windows Media Video (WMV) format, which gives very good file compression with excellent quality. The exact reduction in file size depends on the original file and which profile for WMV creation you choose, but 80% reductions are common. As an alternative, Digital Media Converter Pro version 2 can rip the DVD directly into video files, without your needing to copy VOB files first. Using this method lets you select chapters from the DVD, and can, if you choose, include subtitles and let you select an audio track (different languages, or the director's commentary).

We recommend upgrading your digital picture frame to the latest firmware version. The list of compatible file formats is here. We suggest installing the Xvid compressor, and creating AVI movies using Xvid for video and MP3 for audio compression. As an alternative, you could create AVI movies using MJPEG video compression.

"Same as input" produces a video with exactly the same resolution as the original. 720x576 is a ratio of 5:4. In a DVD player, the video is "stretched" to produce a widescreen format. The WMV file you create is not automatically stretched. You can produce a widescreen WMV movie by using one of the Digital Media Converter profiles that lets you select a resolution, and choosing a resolution that has 16:9 aspect ratio, for instance 720x405.

When you are converting to Windows Media Video (WMV) format, and your original movie has an aspect ratio that is not 4:3, select one of the profiles that lets you choose the dimensions of the final movie. For instance, under "For Desktop Viewing", the "High Quality Video (CBR)" profile lets you keep the aspect ratio and dimensions of the original movie.
