The Quicktime player uses non-standard codes in the header of your mov files to play in the correct orientation. Digital Media Converter Pro can straighten the video during conversion for the .avi and other file formats. Before conversion, click on the effects button and select 'Rotate 180 degrees'. Now proceed to conversion and your video will play right side up.

The WTV file format is recorded at a very high bitrate, which provides excellent video quality. To get a good conversion, I suggest using the Mpeg4 output with the h.264 compressor (codec). Also, keep the aspect ratio and dimensions of the video the same as the source to avoid distortion. You will need to experiment a little with the bitrate to balance the file size with the quality of output you are looking for. Try starting at 3000kbps and adjust downwards to see if the output quality is acceptable. See this page for a visual guide to the settings: https://www.deskshare.com/help/dmcpro/MP4Settings.aspx

One very popular format is MP4 with the h.264 codec. This provides low file size with excellent quality video. Digital Media Converter Pro can convert the VOB files on your DVD. If you are converting multiple DVD's, I recommend using Rip DVD Plus. It is designed for converting DVD's. The default settings in Rip DVD Plus will give you excellent quality output. It is as simple as loading your DVD and clicking the 'Rip' button.

When you convert a file a click is required to add the converted file to iTunes. If you are converting a large batch, all of the converted files will be added with the single click. If you want to configure iTunes to automatically pick up converted files, set the conversion directory in Digital Media Converter Pro to your iTunes folder with the path ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media. As soon as the conversion is complete, iTunes will automatically add your files. If you couple this with Digital Media Converter Pro's Folder Watcher feature, you can have a end-to-end automated conversion.

Digital Media Converter Pro will work create files in many different formats for both online and offline use. For Facebook, I suggest converting to the format WMV for Desktop Viewing. Click on the Configure button and change the video profile to 'Very High Quality'. Notice that the output size says 'Original', this is important so that your original dimensions are maintained. When you upload to Facebook you should get a good quality video post.

Digital Media Converter Pro can convert your DVR-MS files to display on your Seagate media player in the correct aspect ratio. Choose the WMV for Desktop Viewing conversion, select the 'Very High Quality' profile to get better video quality than the default selection. This profile will also keep the original video dimensions and aspect ratio. This should work well on your media player. If you have the Seagate GoFlex or Seagate FreeAgent media players, I suggest converting to MPEG4 with H.264 compression. Make sure to keep the same output resolution as your input file and to keep the aspect ratio the same. This should give you very good quality output.

The VVF file format from your digital video recorder is proprietary and cannot be converted. The solution I suggest is to install My Screen Recorder on the PC that can view your VVF file. During playback, you can use My Screen Recorder to screen capture the video to a AVI file. Then you can view the file on any PC or burn to DVD and view on any video DVD player. You can download My Screen Recorder here: https://www.deskshare.com/screen-recorder.aspx

Digital Media Converter Pro can reduce the size of your video. The correct selection depends on the length of the clip and quality you would like to send. A 1 minute video using the default WMV Streaming format at 314Kbps is about 2.5 Megabytes. The size is important because many email servers have a 5 or 10 megabyte size limit on attachments. If your movie clip is less than 2 minutes, I suggest using the WMV Streaming selection with the default settings. If it is a very short clip, you can use WMV for Desktop viewing to get higher quality. Longer videos can be placed on a service such as Video Desk. Video Desk makes it easy to share videos, and a free trial is available.
