QuickTime's installer provides three types of setup options - Minimum, Recommended and Custom. For Digital Media Converter to convert files from QuickTime format, you must have the "Recommended" Installation Type. The Minimum installation type will not include the necessary files required for a conversion. Please re-install QuickTime Player. It is available free from the following link: https://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

The output dimension of the converted file depends on the format selected. For AVI: The output dimension is always the same as the file you are converting. For MPEG: The output dimension depends on the type of MPEG you want. For instance, if you are converting your file to write to a DVD then you may select MPEG-2 DVD (NTSC) or MPEG-2 DVD (PAL) depending on the picture standard used by you. This shall create a standard complaint output file for DVD burning. To select your own dimension (non-standard), select Custom MPEG-1' or Custom MPEG-2' and then specify the required dimension. Remember that custom MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 dimension are not standard and you cannot burn them on a VCD, SVCD or DVD. However, you can play them on your computer. For Windows Media 9: The output dimension depends on the selected profile. If you want to publish your converted file to the internet then you must select a profile that enables your target audience to view them at their internet connection speed. The profile defines the dimension and you cannot change them.

To know the correct DirectX version installed on your computer: On the Start menu, click 'Run'. Type in "dxdiag" to bring up the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. In order to convert an AVI file, you must have the video and audio compressor in use by that file installed on your computer. Try opening your video file in Windows Media Player. It may be able to determine, download and install the appropriate compressors. Digital Video Converter uses a MPEG encoder that converts your video files to DVD ready videos, which are essentially MPEG 2 files. To play these files you must have an MPEG 2 decoder installed on your computer like the one from Elecard. Search the internet to download one of these encoders. Elecard's MPEG decoder can be downloaded from the URL: https://www.elecard.com/ftp/pub/mpeg/decoder/EMpgDec20.zip
