WebCam Monitor keeps watch over your home, office, or any location. After adding your camera, configure the Video recording action either 'At Regular Interval' or 'On Motion Detection', so that you can review the recordings later. Detach the camera preview window and place it anywhere on your screen. This will help you to watch the birds and do your other work simultaneously. Select 'Listen to Live Audio' option to hear the live audio feed coming from the webcam. You can also configure email alerts with photos, which can be sent to multiple email addresses. You may also like to upload the photos to your website. Please check our forums and articles for other ways to use WebCam Monitor.

WebCam Monitor will display a live preview of your camera even while motion detection is running. When you start monitoring for motion detection, the preview area will be highlighted with a red border when motion is detected. The alerts you have configured will be performed when motion is detected, such as video recording, taking photos, or email notifications. The alert actions occur in the background while the preview is displayed on your screen. [image: WCM_MainUserInterface.png]

In testing we have been able to capture from up to 4 USB cameras simultaneously. The USB bus on the PC's we tested were not able to handle more than 4 cameras. If you need to capture from higher numbers of cameras, I suggest using IP cameras with our other software, Security Monitor Pro. It will support up to 32 IP cameras from a single PC.

WebCam Monitor will record audio from your webcam unless the audio is disabled. Remote Desktop disables audio in the default configuration. Start Remote Desktop and click the Options pull down in the bottom left of the connection screen. Click on the Local Resources tab and click on 'Settings for Remote Audio'. Change the remote audio to play on remote computer. You should now be able to capture audio. There are several alternative to Remote Desktop such as TeamViewer, VNC, or LogMeIn that do not interfere with audio.

WebCam Monitor needs to connect to the internet if you are using a IP camera, using broadcasting or performing a FTP upload. The connection to port 53 is for a DNS lookup and to check if the internet is connected. This is a normal connection and should be allowed.
