Auto FTP Manager allows you to do pattern matching on files to transfer, so you can transfer just videos or other specific file types. Here's how: Edit the FTP profile or create a new profile, and click on the Transfer Rules tab. Click the Configure button in Filter section. You will get a dialog that looks like this: [image: Add-filter-on-a-file_.png] Select File Name and change the settings to "I would like to Include files having names matching the wildcard" and enter SRT*.mp4;SRT*.wmv. Your automated FTP profile will now only transfer video files of the type MP4 and WMV format where the file name starts with SRT. If you have other formats, like MOV or AVI, you can add them to the wildcard list, separating each with a ';'

Auto FTP Manager can automatically rename the file so that you have a history of the older versions of your file using conflict resolution. Here is how to turn this feature on: Edit your Automated Transfer profile and go to the Automated Transfer Settings tab. Under the Conflict Resolution section, look for the drop-down and select 'Appens Date-Time' option. If destination location contains a file with the same name then date and time will be appended. [image: AFMpost2675.png] Each day when you download the file, it will be renamed as 1200-[current date].mp3.

Auto FTP Manager makes it very easy to automatically transfer the file that changes daily using filters. To configure the settings, select the profile and go to 'Edit Profile'. Next, on Automated Transfer Settings page, click on the configure button in front of the Filters section. [image: AFMpost2669.png] Then select "Modification Date" so you can download the file which is modified today. Check the File name option and select "I would like to Include files having name Beginning with STR" Finally, schedule your automated transfer to run once a day. Your STR file will be transferred each day. [image: AFMpost2669_1.png]

There are a couple of reasons that Auto FTP Manager will skip a scheduled run. If you have two different schedules associated with same Automated Transfer Profile then the second schedule will be skipped if the first one is already running. Another example where a schedule may be skipped is if you have set a custom profile to schedule a transfer every minute, you will get a skipped message whenever the next schedule launches because the transfer is already in progress for the Automated Transfer profile.

Auto FTP Manager will allow you to schedule a transfer to a FTP site as often as every minute. Here are directions for uploading new files using a schedule with a custom interval of 1 minute. Steps: Select File >> New Connection Profile >> Automated Transfer Profile>> Next Select Source and destination Set the Action Rules and Conflict Resolution. [image: CreateAutomatedTransferProfile.png] Change to: If file is already present on {destination} then {Skip} when transferring from {source}. Enter Profile name and click Finish From the Connection Profile List view, select Automated Transfer then Right Click >> Create Schedule for Profile From Automated Transfer Schedule Select "Custom Intervals" from the drop down [image: Schedule.png] Change to: "Schedule this profile to run every 1 minute" The Schedule will run every 1 minute and will transfer new files only.

Updating to Auto FTP Manager version 5.31 or higher will fix the Virtual Component error. If you already have a license for version 5, it is a free update to 5.31. At the current time Microsoft KB3045999 is causing the error, though there may be other Microsoft Updates that will also cause this problem.

Auto FTP Manager will automatically switch based on the file being transferred if you are connecting to a Unix FTP server. Transfers to Windows FTP servers are generally in all binary mode. You can change the transfer mode manually. Click File > Settings > Transfer Mode. Change the mode from Auto to Ascii or Binary. More details about setting the transfer mode is available here: https://www.deskshare.com/help/afm/TransferModeSettings.aspx

Auto FTP Manager will transfer all files, folders, and sub-folders by default. You may have a need for certain files to be uploaded to a folder outside the normal tree structure. You can create a profile for specific files to be sent to a remote FTP folder. Create a second or third, or more, automated transfer profile that each specify the correct folder for transfer. Auto FTP Manager does not limit the number of automated transfer profiles you can create.

You may not have been reviewing and the removing the Auto FTP Manager log files files for a very long time. If you do not need to view the logs, turn off logging from File > Settings Transfer Log. Next, backup the profiles from File > Backup Profiles, then restore them from File > Restore Profiles. This will reduce the size of the Profile.fdb quickly.

Auto FTP Manager has 3 types of profiles - Standard, Automated, and Scheduled. An automated transfer job can be run manually or it can be scheduled. Manual execution is useful when you do not have a fixed schedule for transferring those sets of files. To have your automated transfer run automatically, create a schedule for it. More information on scheduling transfers is available here: https://www.deskshare.com/help/afm/ScheduledProfiles.aspx
