Auto FTP Manager allows you to select which files get transferred based on date or size. You can overwrite the files if the date is newer or if the date/size is different using conflict resolution. There is an option to overwrite the file if the size is larger. This will replace the smaller existing file on destination by the larger one. Select the required option from the Conflict Resolution drop down list and save the changes. [image: AFMpost5035.jpg]

Selecting between the Active or Passive mode connection depends on the FTP server to which you are trying to connect. In most cases, Passive mode will work correctly. In Auto FTP Manager, while adding or editing the profile, uncheck the ‘Use Passive Mode’ option if you are not able to connect to an FTP server. There are many ways in which Auto FTP Manager can help you maintain or update a website. For example, if you receive a regular update of new images or articles, Auto FTP Manager can transfer them automatically to your server. Actions rules help you specify whether to upload or download the files. It also allows you to synchronize the folders on the source and destination.

  • What is the PRET command for FTP?

When you are talking to a distributed FTPS server, it needs a PRET command to be issued before all calls to PASV. PASV doesn't work with standard FTP and distributed transfers. The client sends a PRET (PRE Transfer) command before PASV to inform the server what kind of command/transfer will be used. In Auto FTP Manager, you can connect to the server using active mode. If you are connecting to the FTP server using the Active mode, you must set your firewall to accept connections to the port that the FTP client will open. Most Firewalls block those incoming connections so you need to configure your firewall to allow active mode connections.

Yes, you can connect to the server by selecting the FTPS protocol in Auto FTP Manager. When creating the connection profile select the FTPS protocol, enter your username and password. There are 3 types of settings for FTPS protocol: Explicit, Implicit and Auto Detect. In explicit mode, an FTPS client must explicitly request security from an FTPS server and then step-up to a mutually agreed encryption method. If a client does not request security, the FTPS server can either allow the client to continue insecure or refuse/limit the connection. Auto FTP Manager will first connect in plaintext, and then explicitly start SSL negotiation through a protocol command such as STARTTLS. In Implicit mode, the SSL negotiation will start immediately after the connection is established. If the server protocol is FTPS and the type is unknown then select the Auto Detect option. You will be prompted to accept a certificate if you manually run the automated transfer. The certificate is automatically accepted when the transfer runs on a schedule.
