You can change the language in which the application interface is displayed in Text Speaker. When the language is changed, the Menus, Dialog boxes and Window titles will be displayed in the selected language. To change the language of the application, click Tools >> Settings. Then select the program language as French from the Language dropdown. Click Ok to save the settings. [image: TSpost6125.jpg] Now, when you launch the application it will open in French.

Text Speaker can read your PDF files aloud in a clear voice. The file formats supported by Text Speaker are DOC, DOCX, PDF, RTF and TXT. To read aloud a PDF file, go to File >> Open. Select a PDF file to open in Text Speaker. Then click on the Speak icon on the toolbar to start reading the PDF document from the beginning. This way Text Speaker will narrate your PDF file. You should be aware that all the text from a PDF file is extracted into Text Speaker. Therefore graphics will not be displayed when you open the PDF file in the application.

Text Speaker can read aloud text in different languages if you have the appropriate voice installed. You can download trial voices on the Deskshare website for a number of different languages. Once you download a voice, simply install it and launch Text speaker. To change the active voice in Text Speaker, click Tools >> Voice. The installed voice will be listed in the ‘Select Voice’ dropdown list on the Voice Options dialog. Select the voice and click the Test Settings button to test the voice. You can add background music in Text Speaker while converting the text file to MP3 audio. The file formats supported for background music are MP3, WAV, AVI, WMA, MPA, ASF, MPEG, MPG, and M1V. Open your document in Text Speaker. Click Speak >> Convert Current File to Audio. On the Audio Properties dialog, look for the Background Music section and select the Add background music to output file checkbox. Click the Browse button to choose the WAV music file that you want to add. Click OK to start conversion. Text Speaker can automatically read a text message daily with the help of the Talking Reminders feature. Create a new reminder from Tools >> Talking Reminders. Click the Create button and enter the text message to be read. Set the repeat interval of one day or one hour as needed. Text Speaker can begin reading from any cursor position. To start reading at a specific location, load your file into Text Speaker. Place the cursor at the desired location before pressing the read icon. Go to the Speak menu and select the Speak from current cursor position option. Another method to start reading from any text position is to use the right-click context menu. When your cursor is in position, Right Click >> Speak from current cursor position. You can insert a different Text Speaker voice to read the heading from the document. This will enhance or make the heading stand out. To add a voice change you can select the heading text, right click and select the Insert Voice Change option from the context menu. Choose the voice from the list. You can download many voices from https://www.deskshare.com/text-to-speech-voices.aspx. Whenever you start reading, the heading text will be read in a different voice. Remember to switch back to the original voice after the heading text, otherwise Text Speaker will continue to read the text in the selected voice. [image: VoiceProperties.png] In this way, you can make the headings from the text document more noticeable while reading the document.

You can use the spell tag in Text Speaker to spell out words or phrases. To spell the words, open the story book file in Text Speaker using File >> Open. Select the Animal name from the story book document, go to Edit >> Spell Selected Word/Phrase. The selected word will be enclosed within the <spell> </spell> tags. Once you insert the spell tag for all the names in the story file, click on the Convert to Audio option from the toolbar to convert the story file to audio. [image: MP3Properties.png] Now, whenever you will listen to the audio file, Text Speaker will spell out the animal names.

Text Speaker can convert text file to audio format and save the converted audio file to any local or network folder or network path. To start the conversion, open the text file in Text Speaker and click on the Convert to Audio option from the toolbar. On the Audio Properties dialog, look for the Destination Folder section and enter the network folder location. Click OK to start the conversion. [image: TSpost5949.jpg] The converted files will be saved directly to the network folder. You can change the folder location if you want to save the file on a different location.

Text Speaker allows you to adjust the volume, pitch and speed of an installed voice. Adjusting the voice properties will help you generate a voice that will sound different than the original voice. To adjust the voice properties, go to Tools >> Voice. Change the volume, pitch and speed values using the slider. Click the Test Settings button to listen the text sound. Please note that the changes done on the Voice Options dialog apply to the entire document read by Text Speaker.

Text Speaker has a highlighting feature to focus on the word or character as it is read aloud. You can disable and enable this option whenever you need. To disable the highlighting, go to the Settings dialog. On the General settings tab, uncheck the ‘Highlight words when reading’ option under ‘General Preferences’ section. You can enable the highlighting option from the settings whenever it is required.

You can use Text Speaker's Talking Reminders feature to read your file at a scheduled time. You can also set a repeat interval, so that the file will be read every day. To add a reminder, go to Tools >> Talking Reminders. Next, click on the Create button and enter a start date and time. Set the repeat interval of 1 day. Select the ‘Text File Containing Message’ option and click the add file icon to choose the file. Select the file on your network path. Click the OK button to save the reminder details. Use the bookmarks in Text Speaker to get a quick reference to the position within your document to do your updates. To add a bookmark, move to the desired position in the document and click Edit >> Add Bookmark. Assign a name for the bookmark. In your case, you can add bookmarks for a weekday and time. Click the Save icon on the tool bar to save the file. Whenever you want to change the time and weekday in your text document, open it in Text Speaker and click Edit >> Go to Bookmark. Choose a bookmark from the dropdown. Update the weekday and time, and click Speak >> Convert Current File to Audio. [image: TSpost5863.jpg] If you want to change a particular section in the text file regularly, you can use bookmarks to quickly move to that section.

You can select important sections of a document in Text Speaker and convert the selected text into an audio file. To select the text, first open document using File >> Open. Select the text to mark for audio conversion and click Edit >> Outline Area. Repeat this step for all the text you would like to convert to audio format. [image: AudioOutline.png] Once you finish outlining the text, click File >> Save to save the file. Finally, go to the Speak menu and select the Convert Outlined Text option. Configure the audio properties and click OK to start conversion. In this way, only the outlined selected text will be converted to audio.

Text Speaker can convert multiple text files to audio at a time with batch conversion. Add all the text files to the list and start the conversion process. To add multiple files to the file list, click File >> Open. Select the files that you want to convert to audio format and click on the open button. All files will be listed in the File List. Adjust the audio properties and click on the OK button to start the conversion. This way all the selected files will be converted to audio format.

You can change the way Text Speaker pronounces a word when you listen to your document. To change the pronunciation for any word, select it and click Tools >> Pronunciation. Enter the word you want to correct the pronunciation for in the Word text field. Enter the way you want the word to be pronounced in the Pronunciation text field. Click the Test button to hear the pronunciation and click Apply if it is correct. You can easily add pauses at any desired position in your document. After adding a pause at the end of a sentence, convert the text file to audio format with Text Speaker. In order to insert a pause, open the text file in Text Speaker using File >> Open. Put the cursor at the end of a sentence. Go to the Edit menu and select the Insert Pause option. You can also select the insert pause option by right clicking at any position in the document. Choose the pause duration value or select a User Defined option to enter required amount of time. After adding the pause duration, convert your text file to audio format. When you start listening to the audio file, you will notice the pause at the end of a sentence in the audio file.

You can minimize Text Speaker to the system tray and restore it whenever required. When you close the application, you can choose to show it as a system tray icon. To do this, click on the Settings icon from the tool bar. Under ‘General Preferences’ section, select the On close minimize Text Speaker to system tray option. Click Ok to save the changes. Once you complete reading the eBook, you can close the application window. It will be minimized to system tray and won’t be displayed on the screen and task bar. You can set Text Speaker to launch on Windows startup. To configure this setting, click on the Settings icon on the toolbar. On the General tab, look for the ‘General Preferences’ section. Select the Run Text Speaker when Windows launches option. Click Ok to save these settings.
