    The Launch Program feature in Security Monitor Pro lets you run any program or a script when motion gets detected on camera. You can also send parameters to the program that you want to run. To configure the launch program action, click on the Manage Camera icon on the tool bar. Select the camera from the list and click the Edit Camera button. On the Actions tab, click the Launch a Program check box. Click on Browse button and select a script file or an ‘.exe’ file. If required pass any parameters to the selected program. Click Ok and Save the settings. [image: LaunchProgramSettings.png] Once you configure the above settings, right click on the camera preview and start the monitoring action. When motion is detected, then your program will be launched.

    The default setting in Security Monitor Pro is to save the event log every day. You can change it from the event log settings. To configure the event log settings, click on the Settings icon on the tool bar. On the Event Logging tab, select Monday from the drop down list under the ‘Save and Delete Event Log:’ section. Select the time when you want to save the event log file. The time should be entered in 24 hour format. Click Ok and save your changes.     Security Monitor Pro can easily start and stop monitoring for multiple cameras at once. To start monitoring, click on the Monitor icon from the tool bar. On the Monitoring Actions dialog, select the checkbox in front of the cameras for which you want to start monitoring. Once you select all the cameras, click on the Start Monitoring button.     Security Monitor Pro can easily add image labels on the camera preview and on the video recordings. To add an image logo, right click on the camera preview and select the Edit Camera option. On the Labels tab, click the Add Image button. Choose your image file with the help of the Browse button. You can also adjust a image transparency and apply a rotation. When you play the recorded videos, you will see your logo on the camera preview.

    Broadcasting lets other users watch a live preview of your camera from a remote location. Security Monitor Pro has a setting that allows you to limit the number of viewers. To configure the broadcast settings, right click on the camera preview and select the Edit Camera option. On the Broadcast tab, look for the Maximum concurrent viewers option and select 1 from the drop down. This specifies the number of users that can simultaneously view the video broadcast from Security Monitor Pro. Click Ok to save your settings. [image: SMPpost5784.jpg] After configuring the Broadcast settings, right click on the camera preview and select the Start Broadcasting option. When broadcasting starts, the broadcast URL will be listed in the event log. To see the broadcast stream from another PC, open the broadcast URL shown in the event log using VLC or Windows Media Player. If you have selected value 1 for the maximum concurrent users, then only a single user will be allowed to watch the broadcast video. You can also transmit a live broadcast from one or a set of cameras and configure settings individually.

    Using the scheduler in Security Monitor Pro you can start video recording action at a specific time. Follow these instructions to configure the scheduler. Click on the Scheduler icon on the toolbar, choose the cameras to schedule and select the Video Recording action. Next, choose a schedule type. For example, if you want to record every day then select the Daily option. Enter the date and time to start the recording action. Specify the time you leave the house for work, such as 9 AM. The Run for option allows you to specify the duration to run the schedule. Set it according to your working hours, 9 hours for example. Click OK to save these settings.     Security Monitor Pro allows you to specify the duration of recording video after the last motion detection event. To configure this setting, right click on the camera preview and select the **Edit Camera **option. On the Actions tab, click on the Configure button for the Video Recording action. Select a higher value for the recording duration from the After last motion event, continue recording for N seconds drop down list. Try setting it to 60 seconds. [image: SMPpost5763.jpg] After configuring the settings, start the monitoring action. On motion detection, the video will be recorded for 60 seconds. When recording is in progress and motion is detected within 60 seconds, then the program continues recording for next 60 seconds. If there is no motion detected for 60 seconds, it will stop and save the recorded video.
  • Can I close Security Monitor Pro after adding a schedule?

    The scheduler in Security Monitor Pro can automate the monitoring, recording and broadcasting actions. It is not necessary to keep Security Monitor Pro running after adding the schedule, but you will need to be logged in to your PC. Security Monitor Pro will be launched automatically at your specified time and the configured actions will be performed. The schedule will run successfully even if you close the application.     Security Monitor Pro allows you to schedule one IP camera for video recording and another camera for monitoring actions. This can be done by creating separate schedules for each camera. First, add both IP cameras in Security Monitor Pro. Right click on the camera preview for which you want to perform monitoring actions and select the Edit camera option. On the Actions tab, select the actions you want to perform like email notifications, take photos and upload media files. [image: SMPpost5742_1.jpg] Next, click on the scheduler icon on the toolbar. On the Add schedule dialog, the monitoring actions option is selected by default. Enter the start date and time and number of hours to run the actions. Click the Ok button to save the settings. Video recording and monitoring actions will be performed for respective cameras.

    Security Monitor Pro can save media files on your local drive or to a network folder. To save videos and photos to a network location, click the Settings icon on the toolbar. On the Video and Photo tab, click the Browse button and select your network location. You can also enter the network location path manually and click the OK button to save the settings.     You can prevent anyone from changing the application settings in Security Monitor Pro by setting a password to lock your settings. To set the password, click the Settings icon on the tool bar. On the Security tab, click on the Set Password button, then enter and confirm the password. After setting the password, select the check box to lock the application and click the **OK **button. Your settings are now locked. [image: SMPpost5718.jpg] Anyone can see the camera preview, but cannot make any changes to the application settings. Note: The password should be at least 4 characters long. You should remember the password to unlock and access the application settings.

    Use the Mask area feature in Security Monitor Pro to block off monitoring for motion from a selected area. To add a mask, click the Manage Camera icon on the toolbar. Select the camera and click the Edit Camera button. Go to the Mask Area tab and select the Enable Masking checkbox. Adjust the shape of the mask according to your requirement by clicking on the box and dragging it. Add additional masks for the areas you don't want to monitor. Click the OK button to save your changes. [image: MaskArea.png] Once you put a mask on the camera preview, start motion detection monitoring. Notice how motion behind the masked region will not get detected. This will reduce the possibility of unwanted triggering of alerts.

    Security Monitor Pro has a Copy action settings feature that will do exactly what you are looking for. Follow these steps to copy your settings: Right click on the first camera preview and select the Edit Camera option. On the Actions tab, configure the actions you want and save the changes. For the second camera, open the Actions tab and look for Copy action settings from option. Select the first camera name from the drop down list. Click the Copy button and then select Yes to confirm the copy settings action. All actions configured for the first camera will be copied to the second camera. Note: Copy action settings option will appear only when you have at least one camera added in the application.

    With Security Monitor Pro, you can simultaneously view and control multiple cameras. Adding high resolution cameras can take more system resources. If you have high end machine and still facing problem then you can try following steps to reduce the system load. 1.Avoid adding image/text labels and rotation on camera preview. 2.In Video resolution option, select ‘Camera Default’. For each high resolution camera, right click on the camera preview, select Edit Camera option and change the Video resolution in Camera Default. Now, click on Camera Properties link present below the camera preview. This will open the camera web interface in default browser. Reduce the frame rate and video resolution on your camera’s web interface. 3.For RTSP cameras, reduce the bitrate value to less than or equal to 1 mbps. [image: SMPpost5674.jpg]

    Security Monitor Pro allows you to set wait interval between email notifications. This will limit the number of emails received whenever there is continuous motion. To configure notification settings, click on the Manage Camera icon from the tool bar. Select the camera and click on the Edit camera button. Now on Actions tab, go to Select actions to perform section and click Configure button of Email Notification action. On Email Notification Settings, look for Customize Email section and select the required wait interval from the dropdown list. The highest wait interval you can set is 30 minutes.     Security Monitor Pro can automatically restart actions such as Monitoring, Video recording, or Broadcasting on a PC reboot. There are two ways to restart actions: Restart the previously running actions on application launch. If the recording action was running and you closed the application, then on the next application launch the recording action will start automatically. To configure this settings, click on the Settings icon from the toolbar. On the General tab, select the option Launch Security Monitor Pro when Windows starts. The checkbox to Restart previously running action on application launch is selected by default. [image: SMPpost5647.jpg] Use the scheduler to start video recording. If recording was stopped previously, and the PC reboots, you can set a schedule to start recording. To set a schedule, click on the Scheduler icon from the toolbar. Select the Video recording option from the Actions to perform section and choose On Application Launch as the schedule type.     You can use regular interval monitoring in Security Monitor Pro to send an email notification after a fixed period of time. Photo of the activity are by default included within the email body. Start by configuring the primary action. On the menu bar, click Camera >> Manage Cameras. Select the camera and click 'Edit Camera'. Go to the Actions tab and select 'At regular intervals' of 10 minutes. [image: SMPpost5636_1.jpg] Once you complete the above settings, right click on the camera preview and select Start monitoring. An email notification will be sent every 10 minutes.

    You can change the image capture interval from the Photo Settings in Security Monitor Pro. To change the settings, right click on the camera preview and select ‘Edit Camera’ option. On action tab, click ‘Configure’ button for Take Photo action. Enter the value 1 in the numeric text field as shown below and click OK button. Note that the interval value should be in the range from 1 second to a maximum of 5 seconds.

    The regular interval monitoring in Security Monitor Pro will allow you to capture the photos from all IP cameras simultaneously. Right click on the first camera preview and select the Edit Camera option. On the actions tab, select ‘Take Photo’ and choose regular Interval Monitoring with a 15 second interval. Do this for all cameras. [image: SMPpost5603.jpg] Once you finish the configuration for all IP cameras, click on the Monitor icon on the tool bar. Select all the cameras by pressing ‘CTRL+A’ from keyboard. Now, click on the 'Start Monitoring' button.     You can configure Security Monitor Pro to maximize and bring the application window to the front when a motion detection event occurs. To do this, click on the Settings icon from the tool bar. In the General settings, select the option ‘Maximize the application and bring to front when motion is detected’. Apply the settings by clicking on OK button. [image: Generalsettings.png] Now, when you have the application minimized and motion is detected, Security Monitor Pro will be maximized and will be brought to the front of all other windows.
