    • RE: Not understanding why folders and sub folders are created

The behavior of the automated transfer is correct.

In point 3, The program does not delete folders. If "Delete files after transfer" option is selected, only files are deleted during automated transfer process . Hence the original folder structure remains unchanged.

In point 4: If we have some files within the folder then that folder will be created. For example if we have a folder "level 1" and a sub folder within it say "level 2" and now if "level 2" has some files within it then this folder structure
will be created at your local drive, since it is required for copying the file from the ftp server.

    • RE: How do I select files that have been recently modified

You will need to create a new automated transfer profile which will allow you to select and schedule your FTP transfers. To create a scheduled transfer, select File ] New Profile ] Automated Transfer Profile. Next, you will need to fill in all your FTP information. On the Transfer Tab you will see a filter option. You can set the filters to transfer files that have been modified today or within a given date range. You will also see a schedule option where you can set the time and dates to run this profile.

For more information on filters you can see the following article:

    • RE: Remote Monitoring using dynamic IP

Many people are using a dynamic IP to monitor video remotely.

Note: the dynamic IP only changes addresses when you reboot your router or turn off your PC. The dynamic IP address should last as long as you leave your PC on. If you do not close to PC than the IP address never gets released back to the ISP.

You should also be aware that most ISPs will give you a static IP address for a small extra fee.

    • RE: Remote Monitoring using dynamic IP

Try DYNDNS.ORG or NO-IP.COM. It will take your dynamic IP and update it to a DNS name of your choosing. I will provide instructions for DynDNS, they will be similar for No-IP.com. The service is free, simply create a free account. They send you an email to verify this account so you'll be able to log in. You go in "Service" tab, select "Dynamic DNS" and "Add Dynamic DNS".

You choose a domain name something.dyndns.org (you can choose from many variations)

You will be instructed to download DirectUpdate, it's free and it'll tell DynDNS what is your new IP as soon as you connect to the Internet. You wiil then be able to access your computer to the address something.dyndns.org:81 (or the port number you desire).

Here are the steps required to use WebCam Monitor's streaming with DynDNS:

      1. After connecting to the internet, log into your DynDNS account.
      2. Every time you connect to your internet, you get a new IP. You must update your IP address in DynDNS.
      3. Now start streaming in WebCam Monitor.
      4. Although WebCam Monitor displays the IP address or name of your computer followed by the port number, you must use the link provided to you by DynDNS.

In your case, instead of using mms://192.168.xxx.xxx:80, use mms://something.dyndns.org:80. Here "something.dyndns.org" is the domain link provided by DynDNS.

    • RE: IP based Web Cams

The latest version supports most of the popular IP cameras. The entire list of supported IP cameras is displayed in the software. We are constantly adding additional cameras, therefore you can download the latest version to get the most accurate list of IP cameras supported.

You can download the latest version from the following page:
      https://www.deskshare.com/download.aspx

If you're looking for a recommendation on choosing an IP camera. I can recommend the Sony IP cameras which are all supported by the software and work very well.

    • RE: I want to convert DVR-MS to WMV and do simple editing

Digital Media Converter can convert DVR-MS files to Windows Media format (WMV).

The following article explains how to convert DVR-MS files.

    • RE: Send email test fails on my PC

If you're using a proxy server then you need to configure the proxy settings.

Some ISP's are blocking port 25 which prevents you from sending direct email.
In WebCam Monitor you will have to specify a mail server provided by the ISP.
