If you want to add audio and edit audio after the screen-recording is complete, you need to use Video Edit Magic (https://www.deskshare.com/vem.aspx) for editing purposes.
Video Edit Magic's flexible 9-track timeline enables you to edit video and audio along with different video/audio effects and transitions.
Yes, WebCam Monitor will automatically popup a dial up connection screen if this is your default method to connect to the internet.
You can configure the dial up screen to automatically log in so WebCam Monitor can directly send e-mails.
This may be a problem with the Windows configuration on your PC. We were able to simulate this problem on an older Windows 2000 PC. We are looking into the problem.
If you have access to another PC then you try configuring WebCam Monitor on that PC.
Thank you for your appreciation.
In streaming, the most important consideration is that the bandwidth available to computers on which you are trying to view the video should be more than the bandwidth at which WebCam Monitor streams the video. Therefore, in WebCam Monitor, select the profile with the least bit-rate for testing purpose first.
WebCam Monitor streams videos in Windows Media 9 format. If you are using an older version then you need to upgrade Windows Media Player on the remote computer.
You can also try opening the link in Windows Media Player directly using the 'mms' protocol. Older versions of Windows Media Players can automatically download the required Windows Media 9 codecs and start streaming.
WebCam Monitor does not receive e-mails by connecting to mail servers. It simply sends e-mail through a mail server. If the mail server is specified then that server is used directly. Otherwise, a mail server is resolved from the domain name (gmail.com).
Simply use any one of the 5 mail servers resolved by WebCam Monitor. The E-mail Notification alert will then pick up the mail server directly and use it to send e-mails.
First, please make sure that you have the latest version of WebCam Monitor. With version 3.5 and above, you can view E-mail log that can help you diagnose the problem.
Gmail accounts work with WebCam Monitor even when you do not configure the SMTP server. When you do not configure SMTP, WebCam Monitor will use your DNS settings to find out the mail server's address. Then it will use this address to send out e-mail. These two steps takes relatively more time than when you specify the SMTP server.
After sending a test e-mail, view the SMTP log and find a list of resolved SMTP servers. Configure the SMTP server with one of the server addresses listed in the log to speed up sending e-mails.
Digital Media Converter can convert from the MP3 format to any other format. However, converting to MP3 is not supported.
WMA is an excellent replacement for MP3 with comparable size and higher quality. All recent MP3 players will play WMA files.
To create a video file to play on a DVD player, you must make a "Video" DVD and not a "Data" DVD. If you are trying to burn the converted files directly to the DVD then probably you are making a "Data" DVD.
DVD burning software, like Nero Vision, contain specific type of DVD project that you can use to create "Video" DVD. Look for a similar setting on your burning software.
You can also convert your video files to DV-AVI files and then use any burning software to burn the videos to DVD-R.
To date/time stamp a video you need to enable Date/Time stamp.
To do so:
You can also sort the snaps and video by date and time under the Recordings tab at the bottom of the main application interface.
You do need a second computer to test remote monitoring. If you are using a static IP then it should work.
For detailed information, please refer to our article on remote monitoring:

We have added the ability to specify the port number in the latest version of WebCam Monitor. Please download the latest version from the URL:

WMV conversions in DMC provides you with many profiles. Each profile is designed for different purposes and has corresponding quality.
The highest quality profile regardless of file-size is DVD Quality Video. "DVD Quality Video (1Mbps CBR)" profile creates a 1Mbps CBR video. This means that to play such a video, the player must output 1 Mega bits in a single second. CBR stands for Constant Bit Rate. Similarly a video created using "DVD Quality Video (2Mbps CBR)" profile must output twice as much data in a single second.
To generalize:
To use the device cycle schedule, you should let the schedule start the devices and monitoring. If you manually start monitoring by clicking the 'Start Monitor with Alerts' button below the Preview window, then the schedule will not start.
To specify the start time of the schedule:
To configure Cycle through Multiple Devices:
Now leave WebCam Monitor running. You may also stop the preview. At the time specified in Start Time, WebCam Monitor will start the first device specified in the Cycle through Multiple Devices list and start monitoring. Now you will be able to switch the cameras manually.
An earlier version of Digital Media Converter had this problem with MOV conversions. Please download the latest version of Digital Media Converter from the page:

When scheduling multiple cameras make sure that "Cycle through Multiple Devices" option is selected under the Device Scheduler setting.
For an in-depth understanding of using multiple devices with WebCam Monitor, please refer to the following article:
https://www.deskshare.com/Resources/articles/wcm_UsingMultipleCameras_MonitorEffectively.aspx
First, make sure that you click "Schedule Devices" under Quick Settings, select "Cycle through Multiple Devices", click Setup and add both your cameras to the list.
When Alerts are running then the schedule will not switch the camera. In this case, you cannot switch the camera manually too. Configure the Alerts in such a way that they complete within the time you assign to cycle from one camera to the next.
For example, if you set the "duration" of one camera to 1 minute then set the recording duration of the Audio/Video Recording Alert to less than 1 minute. You do not have worry that you will not get 1 minute of recording. When WebCam Monitor detects motion or noise again then you will get another 1 minute of recording.
Please download and install the latest version of WebCam Monitor (3.48) from:

The new version contains enhanced help messages when you try to send a test e-mail. It also gives you an option to view an e-mail log so you can quickly find the problem.
Some of the problems that you can diagnose by viewing the e-mail log are:
Please make sure that you are using the latest version of WebCam Monitor. To download the latest version, visit:

If you already have the latest version then make sure that you have "Periodically after every" option selected from the "Automatically Alert Me" group under "Quick Settings".
You can record the audio that is part of the Powerpoint presentation. By default the Audio input is set to 'Microphone'. 'You have to setup the audio input to either the Mono Mix, Stereo Mix or the Line-in option, depending upon the system configuration you have. Try experimenting a bit with these three options to find out which works the best for you.
