If you prefer, you can turn off the Quick Start. Simply check the "Show at startup" checkbox at the bottom of the window and click OK. From then on, the Quick Start will not appear.

To bring back the Quick Start window, click the Help menu and select "Quick Start ..." Recheck the "Show at startup" box and click OK.

If you'd like to keep the Quick Start window but do not want to start recording at program start, you can simply press Cancel instead of OK.
