<![CDATA[How can I convert MPEG 2 files to WMV?]]>I am trying to covert the MPEG files that I recorded from my camcorder into WMV files and when I do the conversion I get the picture but no sound. I need to convert the files to WMV files for streaming media. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can download it here: https://www.deskshare.com/download/mpeg2decoder.exe. This decoder has built-in support for AC3 audio. Please install this decoder and try your conversion again.

You may also have to open the program Settings, switch to the Compatibility tab, and uncheck all AC3 and MPEG decoders.

No matter what WMV format I chose to convert to, I do not get audio. Renaming to .avi doesn't help.

The input file is MPEG-2 PS, how can I convert this file to WMV?

If yes, then try renaming the MPEG file to AVI and then convert.

If the file does not play in Windows Media Player then you may be missing the AC3 audio decoder. You can download this codec from:
